WOW! I didn't realise it has been more than 2 weeks since I last blogged. The truth is, I've been extremely busy trying to meet deadlines that sometimes I lose sleep and forgot all about eating. Which I think is great cos I'd get to lose weight. :)
I'm now surviving on a 4 hour sleep. Not due to my work, but because I stayed up late to watch the reruns of Friends and afterwards got hooked watching an old 80s ridiculous computer geek movie called Wargames starring Matthew Broderick. All till 4 in the freaking morning! I couldn't sleep for the next one hour. 5am, had to be awake to eat my predawn meal, then its sleeping time till 11am. Woke up, only to be surprised with a new dining set in the living room. WOW!! My life is absolutely fun!
So anyway, in case you don't know, Muslims around the world are now observing the holy month of fasting. Which means, we have to abstain from food, water, sex, porn, cussing (HAHAHA!!), etc, from dawn to dusk. The great thing about the fasting month is, its the only time when we try to get back home quickly to have dinner together around the table as a family. And the wonderful thing about fasting in Singapore is... every year, Muslims would go to the annual fair in Geylang Serai which serves everything from food to clothes and other necessities for the preparation of Hari Raya. Hari Raya is not the the equivalent of New Year. It is just the day that comes after 30 days of fasting. Muslims are not allowed to fast on this day but to celebrate their personal achievements of overcoming the difficulties they faced while fasting - like abstaining from food. Normally on the first day of Hari Raya, some families would serve the traditional Malay food like rendang, eaten with rice packed in woven palm leaves called the ketupat.
Hari Raya in Singapore means, you have to be in new colourful traditional Malay clothes. These are either the traditional Malay Baju Kurung, or the modern kebaya. Some families are so hardcore that they make their family wear the same colour or even the same pattern. We have a term for this OCD: its called Langsir Bergerak (in English it means Walking Curtain).
So this year, unlike the many years before, my family have already gotten our tailored Raya clothes a month before Hari Raya, since on most times, we're a last minute shopper. And on top of that, we've also gotten ourselves a new dining table. The only thing left now is the painting we're gonna do on the living room walls. Heheheheee. So everything is set and ready to just fast and relax!
LOLOL!
Ok, enough about Hari Raya. I wrote a couple of entries before that I think Sergei Korokhordin is cute. Since then, I've been receiving a lot of hits just on Sergei alone! Thanks to SirNeer, I got a tip on how to google for more info on him. If you're interested to know, just type out Сергей Хорохордин on your preferred choice of search engine, and you're instantly on your way to more Sergei Khorokhordin!
