Knockoff China Automobile

The other day, I came across an SUV with a logo that looked foreign to me. I am not knowledgeable about car specification, and I don't keep tabs on the latest wheels into Singapore. The latest brand I know that was introduced into Singapore is Chery. It looked so much like the Chevrolet compact car. People even say that they must have copied the name from Chevrolet's pet name: Chevy.

So one fine day, as I was walking to my dad's car, I came across an SUV that looked so much like a Honda SUV from the front. I didn't notice the logo at the first glance. But my dad looked at my mother and asked, "Eh, isn't that Geely?". So that was when I took notice of the logo. Bloody copycats!

But my father was more interested in its safety features. It didn't pass the Euro crash test and I read from forums that the cars folded like tin foils. But do you think they would allow an unsafe car roam freely on Singapore's roads and harm its passengers? Or are people just biased and hate everything China made? And those who bought these cars, are they knowledgeable about car specifications and told of its lack in safety features? It is amazingly cheap, but your life is worth much more!

But I have to say I am amazed and amused at the lengths these auto companies would go to copy the design of another car, down to the logo of the company! Why can't they just be original? What's so difficult in making a product your own? Its as simple as fashion on the runway; Making shit look awesome.
